Merlin knew little of the magical druid power residing within him—but he’s about to find out. Only weeks after the flood, Merlin finds himself isolated, forced to live in the woods with Rhian, and forbidden from seeing his father Camamere ever again. Worse, all visions have stopped and Merlin believes he has become useless to the princes and their war against Vortigern and his brother, Pensalor. But when Merlin is forced to move to Calidon to live under Cassious’ watchful eye, Merlin’s magical gifts return and grow and he comes face to face with the Lady of the Lake and learns his destiny—a destiny that terrifies him. Prince Ambrosius and Uther’s enemies grow in both number and strength and Merlin’s great power is needed more than ever. As battle looms, a dark magical power rises in the enemy’s army, threatening to take the crown and to destroy Merlin in the process.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading both of Kristine Papin Morris' novels. Merlin of Calidon is a long awaited sequel to her first novel, Merlin of Carmarthen. I loved Mary Stewart's Arthurian legends, and I always felt that it was important for students to know these stories for literary purposes. Morris' first novel, Merlin of Carmarthen, begins with Merlin as a boy who is just discovering his Druid powers. Young adults would especially enjoy these novels, but anyone who is interested in Merlin and King Arthur would find these coming of age novels fascinating.

This is the follow up to 'Merlin of Carmathen', which was great. If anything, this is even better. Definitely worth every penny, but probably worth reading in order, so get 'Carmathen' as well.
Found myself trying to read this book from start to finish even though my children needed to eat. Very entertaining! Need to get the 3rd book now
Could not put it down! My sister had to take it away so I would go to back to work from my breaks!!
Second in the series, isn't turning out to be a Merlin I recognize.
Nice retelling of the Ambrosius Uther legend and about Merlin as a young boy. It is similar to Mary Stewart's trilogy. So if you liked that series you'll like this one too.
I could have read more. This , 2nd book, leaves off with another sequel begging to be written with its cliff-hanging ending and unanswered questions.
I thoroughly enjoyed Merlin of Calidon. I am fascinated by any aspect of the Arthurian legend, and Merlin is my favorite.
